Plus, these cookies keep their shape and are perfect for decoration. Also, the cookie dough comes together in no time and bakes for 9 to 10 minutes to perfection. All these perfect cut-out sugar cookies need are simple pantry ingredients. This recipe comes with an easy glaze recipe which you can pipe onto the cookies or dip the top of the cookies into, all of which require no prior experience. Ingredients for the Perfect Cut-out Sugar Cookie

For the cookie:

Salted butter – ¾ cup
Sugar – 3/4 cup
Egg – 1
Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
All-purpose flour – 2 cups

For the glaze:

Powdered sugar – 2 cups
Melted salted butter – 1 tablespoon
Food color – 4 to 5 drops of desired colors
Sprinkles – to decorate
Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
Hot water – 4 to 5 tablespoons

How to make the Perfect Cut-out Sugar cookies :

Prepare the cookie dough: Cream together ¾ cup of butter and ¾ cup of sugar in a large bowl. Beat it until light and fluffy. Add one large egg. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix it till it is light and fluffy for about 3 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and mix. Add 2 cups of all-purpose. Do not overwork the mixture. It would be best if you mixed it until the flour was fully incorporated. The dough should be firm but not crumbly. Also preheat the oven to 180 C.
Rolling the dough and cutting out cookies: Bring the dough together. Roll it out to ¼-inch thickness. Cut out your favorite shapes using a cookie cutter. Join the scrap dough and roll it out to ¼ inch thickness and cut out shapes using the cookie cutter. Keep doing this until the whole dough is used up.
Bake the cookies: Bake in an oven preheated to 180 degrees centigrade for 9 to 10 minutes depending on the size of the cookies. The cookies may look undone. But trust me; do not overbake them. Baking them longer will make them dry and tough. if you roll out thinner cookies or use a smaller cookie cutter, you will need to bake them only for 6 to 8 minutes.
Make the frosting and glaze the cookies: It is a simple glaze using powdered sugar, vanilla extract, melted butter, and hot water. Start with 2 cups of powdered sugar. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of melted salted butter. Mix well. Add 4 to 5 teaspoons of hotwater, 1 teaspoon at a time and mix until the right consistency is reached. Mix the ingredients until smooth. Add more powdered sugar or hot water as required to reach the right consistency. Divide into five parts. Add desired food colors to each part and water if required to achieve a running consistency. Dip the tops of the cookies into the colored glaze to get a smooth finished coat. The glaze hardens in 2 to 3 hours and the cookies can be easily stacked in an air-tight container.
